The 1607 Project

When the English established Jamestown in 1607 slavery and tribal wars were endemic across the continent. It was thanks to the conquest of the continent by the British that finally slavery and tribal wars were abolished. The last battle between Indians and non-Indians took place on December 29, 1890 - Battle of Wounded Knee - and since then the United States has enjoyed a Pax Americana, where any Indian can traverse the land without fear of being killed or taken as a slave.

The Pax Americana should be celebrated every year as the magnificent achievement it is, along with the recognition that Pocahontas provided to the survival of the Jamestown colony.

Pocahontas is the idealization of Western Civilization itself, replete with Christian ideals, though she knew them not before the arrival of the colonists. The germ of a universal comprehension for humanity, outside of the closed world of the Powhatan Confederacy, was clearly a part of her intellectual insights, even if it be a subconscious comprehension. Her impertinence to go out of her way to assist the Jamestown colonists that would estrange her from her beloved father directs our attention to conscious insight to the new reality that confronted the teen. Her instincts were pure, hence she witnessed a superior and more noble civilization when others of the Confederacy witnessed, at the very least, a potential threat.

With the introduction of The Christ by the English to the various Indian nations, there can exist no intellectual rationale for Indian supremacy. Once emotional-based wars were ridden from Indians' sense of self-esteem and respect, slowly Indians made their peace with the English, culminating in the last war fought between the United States and Spotted Elk's [Lakota] Sioux band, the Miniconjou SiouxAll other Sioux subdivisions and their respective bands remained on their reservations in peace with the United States. After the engagement at Wounded Knee Creek, all hostilities between Washington, DC and Indians ended, culminating in one of the greatest feats obtained by both races - Peace.
