  Wednesday, May 5, 2021 The 1607 Project                    When the English established Jamestown in 1607  slavery and tribal wars were endemic across the continent . It was thanks to the conquest of the continent by the British that finally  slavery and tribal wars  were abolished. The last battle between Indians and non-Indians took place on December 29, 1890 -  Battle of Wounded Knee  - and since then the United States has enjoyed a Pax Americana, where any Indian can traverse the land without fear of being  killed or taken as a slave . The Pax Americana should be celebrated every year as the magnificent achievement it is, along with the recognition that Pocahontas provided to the survival of the Jamestown colony.                                                Pocahontas saves the life of Captain  John Smith , President of the                                                 Jamestown Council, 1608 - 1609.                                                                    Marriage
