October 3 , 2019 (Updated 10/14/2021) SINKHOLE:  THE GREEN NEW DEAL’S RENEWABLE ENERGY COSTS ON LOCAL GOVERNMENTS' BUDGETS In August 2006 Washington DC broke several records for electricity use, where the third record for that month was 6,888 MW of power . If the Green New Deal is implemented, battery storage for such a record magnitude of electricity use would come to $247.9 billion;  Washington, DC’s annual budget is $12.8 billion . This amount only includes the cost for battery storage, not the actual generating of the power derived from a wind farm or solar array. If a wind farm is the choice, the cost for a 100 MW wind farm would be $150 million .  The electrical power company that services Washington DC (and parts of surrounding Montgomery County and Prince George’s County)  is Pepco Holdings .  842,000 residents are served, 633,427 residing in Washington, DC, the remaining 208,573 living in both counties.
